Dr. Scholastica Tiguryera

Scholastica is the Executive Ditrector and one of the Founders of GITEA Education Foundation Limited,a highly skilled and adaptable educator with extensive expertise in early childhood and primary education, teacher training and educational management. Scholastica has worked across diverse, multicultural settings, consistently demonstrating leadership, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Her career encompasses roles in teacher training, instructional coaching, and managing education-focused projects, particularly in early grade reading (EGR) and teacher professional development. She brings a wealth of experience from working on donor-funded programs and with NGOs in collaboration with Uganda’s Ministry of Education.  Some of her previous positions include Instructor at Aga Khan University, Deputy Project Director for the School Improvement Project at Aga Khan Education Services, Professional Development Specialist with the School Health and Reading Program (SHRP) at RTI International, Basic Education Manager for the UNITY project at Creative Associates International, and Early Grade Reading Manager for the Integrated Child and Youth Development (ICYD) activity at Education Development Center (EDC)

Consilous Twesigye Rwanyonga

Consilous is the Deputy Executive Director  and one of the Founders of GITEA Education Foundation Limited, a seasoned teacher educator with over 30 years of experience in the education sector, including 10 years working on USAID-funded projects in Uganda. She specializes in Early Childhood Development (ECD) and counseling, and has built strong relationships with key Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) departments and directorates. Notably, she supported the institutionalization of early grade reading (EGR) and prevention of school-related gender-based violence (SRGBV) into primary teacher education (PTE) and Uganda National Institute for Teacher Education (UNITE) curricula. Additionally, she oversaw the development of the UNITE Master Plan (2023-2040) with support from USAID’s Integrated Child and Youth Development (ICYD) Activity. Her expertise also extends to palliative care education, where she provided technical support in six African countries, including Swaziland, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Namibia.

Baziwe Sarah Nakamya

Sarah, is the Education Technical Advisor and one of the founders of GITEA Education Foundation Limited.  Basic Education consultant, excellent action researcher, motivational speaker and facilitator. As a Pre-Service Development Officer attached to Busuubizi CPTC, Kabulasoke PTC and NTC Mubende, June 2021 – June 2024, Sarah provided coaching and support to pre-service tutors in Early Grade Reading; demonstrated improved instructional practices, supported school implementation, facilitated capacity building, provided support supervision, and program monitoring. As a Project Manager at Hope and Glory Foundation, January 2021 – June 2021, Sarah managed vocational skills programs for vulnerable out-of-school young girls and oversaw program implementation, planning, reporting, and capacity building; As a consultant, lead Facilitator, material developer, January 2014 – October 2019 under USAID/Uganda School Health and Reading Program. Sarah developed training guides and materials for Early Grade Reading and Gender-based Violence programs, facilitated workshops for trainers and teachers and provided technical expertise, provided support supervision, and monitoring. Sarah has relevant experience with other funded programs such as: LARA, UPHOLD, an alumnus of AIMSSEC (African Institute of Mathematical Sciences schools Enrichment Centre) and a member on the MoES and NCDC Task force for the Thematic curriculum Sarah holds a Master of Education (Educational Foundations), Makerere University, Kampala, 2001 – 2003, a Certificate in Basic Management Skills for Head Teachers, Shimoni PTC, 2000 – 2001, a Certificate in Computer Applications, Mengo Senior School, 1999 – 2000, a Bachelor of Education (Evaluation and Planning), Makerere University, Kampala, 1995 – 1999, a Diploma in Education Primary (2nd Class Upper), Nkozi National Teachers College, 1989 – 1991, a Grade III Certificate, Iganga Teacher Training College, 1977 – 1979, a Uganda Certificate of Education, Nabisunsa Girls School, 1974 – 1976 and a Primary Leaving Examination Certificate, Kitala Primary School, 1966 – 1972. Personal Attributes include but not limited to being dedicated, experienced, hardworking administrator, an excellent writer of training modules and project proposals, a self-driven team player and inspirational public speaker, a skilled researcher, facilitator, and problem solver.

Petra Ahabwamukama Ankunda

Petra A. Ankunda is the Head of Programs  and one of the founders of GITEA Education Foundation Limited. An education, program design, and training specialist in Uganda with 18 years of professional experience. She has concentrated her work on improving the education sector through capacity building, developing professional development materials, facilitating hundreds of trainings for teachers, tutors and other stakeholders. She led the alignment of Early Grade Reading (EGR) and School‑Related Gender Based Violence (SRGBV) training and professional development across primary, diploma, and degree levels, and supported the integration of EGR and SRGBV prevention into the national curriculum for Uganda National Institute for Teacher Education. Petra has strong stakeholder engagement skills and has worked in collaboration with institutions such as USAID, RTI, Creative Associates, Education Development centre, Makerere University, Kyambogo University, Uganda Primary teachers’ colleges and Aga Khan Foundation.

Agnes Namazzi

Agnes is the IT Specialist and one of the founders of GITEA Education Foundation, an experienced ICT professional, Instructional designer, and Digital materials specialist with a passion for Enhancing Education Technology. Committed to utilizing technology to improve teaching learning outcomes and operational efficiency. Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in producing high-quality digital, print, audio, and video educational content. Agnes, has worked on several USAID-funded projects and has contributed to a number of national education initiatives with the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC), Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), and the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES). She is passionate about leveraging technology to enhance teaching, learning, and operational efficiency.
